The tools we love

The basement division of Alure Home Improvement, East Meadow, N.Y., is a franchise of Owens Corning Basement Finishing Systems, and manager Mike Kuplicki is always looking for tools to help him run the division effectively and provide the best possible customer service. Here are some of his current favorites:

 

 

  • Palm Pilot. "I have been using a personal information manager for more than 15 years," Kuplicki says. "The best series has been the Palm units. I keep all of my contacts, dates, memos, to-dos, e-mails and generally my wacky thoughts that form the basis of my goals."

  • Personal computer. "I have been using a PC since 1983. I don’t know where I would be today without this technology. I use it to collect data and sort ideas, and for CAD drawings, music player, communications with interoffice and clients, letter writing, spell checking."

  • Cell phone. "Keeping our promises. That is why we carry these invaders of privacy. My contract with the owners of the company is that I will be an effective manager who will be in touch with the people who help maintain our brand. I return the calls that our clients need to maintain their sanity throughout the remodeling fever days. I will take the call at any time to help people get what they want."

  • CompuTool. "The absolute best remodeling software package that I have ever seen. It integrates every aspect of business systems that are imperative for growth, profitability and record keeping: effective management, sales, administrative, marketing and production databasing."

     

    •  

  • Lotus Notes. "This is part of the mail program that I use day to day, both interoffice and throughout the world. Sharing ideas and actions are an integral part of growth without the high cost of education based upon past failures."
