This project flawlessly accomplishes the end product of a good-looking luxury master bath that is not overpowered with gadgets and gizmos or cluttered with knobs and handles. In successfully accomplishing this balance, it was imperative to ensure that the high-end products, many of which require complex and difficult installations, went in seamlessly.
"The design called for all products to be installed in a meticulous manner where the quality of the construction and workmanship is enhanced, all to create a very long-lasting bathroom," says Michael Kaiser, owner of Kaiser Building Co.
The project architect, who's also the homeowner, designed the 220-square-foot bathroom as part of a master bedroom remodel that called for enlarging the bath area and relocating the master closet. As in an art gallery, the open floor plan flows effortlessly from element to element, allowing the very form of the 45-square-foot marble walk-in shower with its elaborate shower tower and mosaic glass wall tiling, the vessel sinks, the frosted glass doors, the granite countertop - each individual element - to stand alone and garner admiration. The intrinsic beauty of the features negates the need for an overly complicated, busy design; the elements speak for themselves.
Kaiser built a complex, custom built-in storage system to house a two-sided gas fireplace, a plasma screen television, Bose stereo system and glass display shelving. All that and a complex lighting scheme don't seem to add up to simple, but Kaiser says the choice of finishes and the layout "accentuate the concept that less is more."
