Jackson & LeRoy Remodeling faced two major challenges when undertaking the addition to this rustic mountain home: making sure the new dining room and deck seamlessly matched the rest of the home, but also connected the beautiful mountain setting with the inside space.

The owners of this mountain ski home wanted to increase the open space in their home to create more entertaining space for family and friends by adding a new dining area and additional outdoor space that took advantage of the home’s breathtaking views.

The Jackson & LeRoy team used wood Jeld-Wen windows, rough-sawn timbers and earth tone colors to create a rustic look that fits into the existing design of the home. Matching details in the trim, tongue and groove ceilings and custom wood floors all helped to tie the addition to the existing structure.

The dining room is connected to the new deck with a vanishing wall system, providing a link between the two new spaces, but also separating them. To further emphasize the connection, Jackson & LeRoy used the exterior cedar siding on the interior walls of the dining room and replicated the exterior natural stone on an interior accent wall that is used to display the homeowner’s original artwork.

The judges were especially impressed with Jackson & LeRoy’s ability to match the existing home: “Excellent integration of an addition and deck. Seems as if it was always there,” they said.
