Painting Instead of Refacing Kitchen Cabinets for Big Savings, Big Changes

Feb. 18, 2015

Houzz features a clever trick a homeowner couple from Downers Grove, Ill., did to turn their kitchen from beige to bright for less than $9,000.

The secret? Painting the cabinets rather than refacing them saved the couple $8,000, while giving the kitchen a more modern look, and a light feel. The original, yellowish maple cabinets were painted white to make the room brighter, while the matching island was painted grey to add a pop of color.
