Housing: New Homes Are Getting Bigger and Swankier

According to Census data, newly constructed U.S. homes are getting bigger and have more bathrooms.

The data comes from the bureau’s 2014 Characteristics of New Housing report released last week. “More than 45 percent of the 620,000 new single-family homes completed last year had four or more bedrooms, and more than one-third had at least three bathrooms,” Construction Dive reports.

These increases in amenities and square footage of new homes also drove up the average price.
