While the original building featured a plaster ceiling applied to concrete floor decks, the team’s design—which includes modernized HVAC systems as well as a sprinkler system—required a new ceiling that wouldn’t compromise the existing beam structure, as is mandated for historical compliance. The team used a BIM system and clash detection to get it done.
