To transform this 1950s ranch house into an ultra-contemporary home with European sensibilities, major focus was put on minimalistic design elements, including white-on-white open spaces and an increase in natural light. Large, frameless windows helped achieve the latter, coupled with LED lighting integrated into decorative ceiling beams.
The ceiling in the main living space (see main image) was vaulted to further enhance the lighting and sense of expansive, white space. The use of 1⁄2-inch reveals in place of traditional baseboards throughout the home contributed to the clean lines desired by the clients.
Keeping in line with the windows, frameless and flush doors, wall outlets, and switches enhance the European sensibility of the design.
