Where We’re Innovating: My dad founded the company in 1980, and we were known for doing larger projects. In 2011, I decided I wanted to join the team. My dad said, “Great, but you have to bring value.” So, I started our handyman department. It has since grown to 11 handyman team members, two PMs, and three sales team members. The department is more like “handyman on steroids.” We fill the gap between smaller jobs and full remodels, and over time that department has become 40% of our revenue and a highly profitable part of the company. We do window and door replacement, tiling, kitchen and bathroom face-lifts, among other home maintenance.
