Movin’ On Up
even bigger and better plans. When you look at Kirsic’s experience, it’s no wonder his name pops up time and again in our industry: founding TimeLine Renovations in 2008 as a single employee in Maspeth, N.Y., (a neighborhood nestled in Queens), he soon grew his company into a renowned business, boasting a skilled team and strong growth.
Then
Flashback to six years ago: Kirsic had recently joined the board of the NYC-LI chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), chairing the chapter’s programming committee and vice chairing the education committee. That same year, he was named one of Pro Remodeler’s Forty Under 40 honorees—only five years after creating TimeLine.
“I had worked for another high-end remodeling company in Manhattan, and it was one of my biggest motivators to branch off into my own company,” says Kirsic. “I gained extensive knowledge there, particularly my experience as a master carpenter, and I wanted to bring that into my own business and grow from there.”
Kirsic continued to take on more responsibility at NARI in the following years, becoming National secretary in 2016 and National treasurer in 2017, while keeping up with day-to-day operations at TimeLine. In 2017, Kirsic received the President’s Award from NARI National, as well as the Young Professional Award from the NYC-LI chapter.
Now
Today, Kirsic serves as NARI National president, a role he is honored to hold while still bringing creativity and innovation to the table. He also serves on Pro Remodeler’s Editorial Advisory Board, providing our editors with in-depth industry knowledge and expertise.
Kirsic and TimeLine have accumulated numerous industry design awards since the company’s creation, including a handful from Pro Remodeler: in 2012 (only 4 years after TimeLine’s founding), a gold award in the category of Bathroom over $30K; in 2013, in the category of Residential Interior over $100K; and in 2015, in the category of Residential Specialty.
“What we’re doing right now is where I’ve wanted to be for awhile,” Kirsic says. “We have an established reputation and company process, both of which help us ensure we continue to grow and serve the Manhattan area for years to come.”
TimeLine has four to five projects going at any given moment, always ensuring that the team is not overworked and that clients get premium service.
And while there’s not much free time when you’re running an in-demand remodeling business, when he finds the rare moment to wind down, Kirsic picks up an acoustic guitar. (In a previous life, he was a musician.)
“Music is something that’s in my blood,” he says. “I’ve been playing since I was 15 years old, and even though my priorities and passions have changed throughout the years, that’s not something that goes away.”
Beyond
As a long-time New Yorker, Kirsic doesn’t envision calling anywhere else home. His roots are planted, both in the city that never sleeps, and with TimeLine, the company that’s always growing and innovating. They’re currently completing a complex full-gut renovation of a 3,500-square-foot loft on 19th and Park Avenue in Manhattan.
“We’ve been at it there for about 12 months, and we’re nearing the end,” he says. “It’s been an exciting project—all new interior walls, all new mechanicals, plumbing...really everything. It challenged us in the best ways.”
So, how do you follow up a project like that? With another complex, high-visibility challenge. “We’ll be starting a renovation at the Plaza Hotel soon,” Kirsic says. “It’s a kitchen renovation, with a few added projects throughout the space.”
