Innovative Products: James Hardie Dream Collection
We live in an age of customization, and nowhere is that more obvious than in James Hardie’s new Dream Collection.
“We have over 700 colors available,” says one company official we spoke with during the International Builders’ Show. “If you want a pink house, you want a pink house.” Available in a wide range of sizes and textures (planks, panels, shingles, trim, and soffits) the Dream Collection is manufactured using Hardie’s ColorPlus Technology.
ColorPlus products come pre-finished from the factory and are designed to resist damage and fading.
“The first thing we notice on a house is color,” the official says. “So, how do I make sure that it looks great over a long period of time? ColorPlus allows for that to happen.”
Introduced in late 2019, the Dream Collection products are backed by a 15-year limited warranty.
But Hardie’s approach to innovation goes beyond actual products and into the industry itself. In 2016, the company launched Zero Harm, a safety program that started out as an internal initiative for Hardie team members. Since then, it’s grown to encompass installers as well. To that end, Hardie partnered with the National Association of Home Builders to create Safety 365. The program educates employers and workers on jobsite dangers and compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
