Design Consultant

RIKB Design + Build / Warwick, R.I.

 From the Family Company RIKB:

I’ve been around construction my whole life. My father’s company, McShane Home Improvements, built two of our homes. I even had some say about what went into my bedroom in the second house. As I grew older, I worked for my dad out in the field, which helped me realize that my true passion was interior design. During my last year at the New England Institute of Technology, I worked as a design assistant for RIKB. At the time, I was surrounded by design consultants who were all over 40, so I thought it would take me a long time to get to their level.

I was inspired when the company hired Billie Senzek as a very successful design consultant, and she was only 30. At first, I focused mainly on kitchen and bath projects. This past year, our company became a full-service design-build firm. That required new training, and I have since become a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist and earned an Associate Kitchen and Bath design certification from NKBA. Last year, I sold $1.38 million worth of projects, and I can only hope for continued growth and success in the future.
