Revenue Through Realtors
Drywall repair, refinished floors, a new driveway, new paint on everything—more than two thirds of Realtors say these are among the services most recommended to seller clients, according to the National Association of Realtors latest Profile of Home Staging.
Realtors are in the home game much the same as a remodelers, and while they are less in the business of fixing homes than they are facilitating the buying and selling of them, their unique proximity to selling and wantful homeowners provide remodelers with a potentially lucrative opportunitiy. As the below inforgraph illustrates, Realtors are regularly suggesting clients spruce up their homes with relatively small projects prior to selling with the hopes of minimizing the listing's days on market. While averaging out pricing for such projects is tough considering the myriad factors that influence pricing in any given market, general ranges applied by home improvement price guide provider Fixr show the potential revenue a Realtor partner may provide.
Sixty-three percent of Realtors commonly recommend an interior paint job, while more than three quarters suggest an exterior job, according to NAR's report. Sold together a remodeler could be looking at earned revenue upwards of $13,000.
And partnering with Realtors for lead gen purposes is not a novel prospect. We've seen at least one remodeler successful incorporate Realtors and real estate agents (i.e., a licensed but non-NAR member practioner) as a key tenet of their lead gen strategy.
Buyers Want Remodels, Too
Since 2015, the majority of Realtors have also reported an increase in homebuyers expressing intent to remodel their new home. And what's more, these potential remodeling clients are motivated. NAR's report found that a quarter of buyers planning to remodel will do so within three months following close.
