1. AGS Stainless
AGS Stainless’ Cascadia is a stainless-steel-bar railing system that remodelers can install with minimal modifications at a price point closer to the aluminum options. Before, remodelers often had to hire a local metal fabricator to offer a quality steel railing, but this system is pulled from a dealer’s inventory and can be installed in one day. The railing components are made of marine-grade stainless steel.
2. Fortress Building Products
Fortress Building Products uses a proprietary tri-extrusion process to create APEX decking, a UV-, fade-, and moisture-resistant PVC-composite with the look of tropical hardwoods. Foam-core boards are reinforced with co-extruded, bamboo-plastic. The company says the board shapes will remain consistent and expand and contract 25% less than other PVC boards.
3. Camo Fasteners
The Camo Edgexmetal Clips are one-pass fasteners similar to Camo’s clips for wood, but for metal framing. Edgexmetal features a drill-point screw that engages in under two seconds. Clips fasten to any grooved deck board including composite, capped composite, PVC, and hardwood on a metal substructure. The wings fit into the board’s groove, securing it before fastening, and the 304 Stainless Steel gusset holds the boards down, reducing lateral movement.
4. Fastenmaster
Cortex for Fascia by Fastenmaster is a hidden fastener that accounts for board movement in fascia boards. The system resists stripping and features a stability button that keeps the fastener straight through installation. Remodelers can purchase Cortex for Fascia as a 50-lineal-foot kit with 100 1 ¾” screws, 105 plugs, one counterbore tool and 1 setting tool.
5. Fiberon
Fiberon’s Deck Visualizer allows users to create a deck from scratch or choose from an assortment of pre-built decks that can be customized to fit the needs of the project. The optimized user experience includes a new Time of Day feature that can be adjusted to showcase what the deck will look like in all levels of sunlight. Users can also choose from several landscapes including beach, mountain, valley and more. Once the deck design is complete, a 3D rendering is produced along with a bill of materials for reference. Projects can be saved to view later or share via email.
6. Deckorators
Deckorators has introduced Deckorators Trailhead, an entry-level, low-maintenance wood-plastic composite decking for 2021. The price of the 7/8-inch-by-5½-inch Trailhead boards is in an expected $2-per-lineal-foot range (USD), and the boards come in three colors Ridgeline (gray), Pathway (brown) and Canyon (red-brown) with natural, flat-grain embossing. Solid or grooved-edge Trailhead boards in 12-, 16- and 20-foot sizes are available.
7. SunTech
SunTech released what it claims is the world’s longest fully-retractable bioclimatic system, Exxen. The high-end, fully retractable pergola features sun, wind, and rain sensors that help redefine the outdoors. The modular system is custom-built to be adapted to various types of large application areas such as terraces or balconies and is customizable with lighting, insulation, and edge-covering options. It can be installed freestanding or wall-mounted.
