On achieving success: Part of what has made me successful is that I didn’t come up through this industry the traditional way. I didn’t go to college. I started with Homefix as a canvasser. I’ve been a marketing manager and a salesperson. I’ve been forced to learn each aspect of the business.
I’ve focused on learning and educating myself as much as possible, and I think that’s given me some advantages. I think that’s a valuable lesson for everybody in this industry. Nobody has to tell you where you can stop.
Best business innovation: Our sales structure. We created a tiered system that gives salespersons promotions inside of that role. This has helped tremendously with retention. A salesperson can get promoted three times. They’ll still be a salesperson, but each promotion provides them with added benefits and perks from the company.
