On appreciation: I established what I call the appreciation station. That’s one of my favorite things. I put out a bunch of thank you cards, a couple of posters on how to write a thank you card, and I found these materials to make it exciting and help our team engage with each other, then also if they want to engage with clients, as well. I know a lot of our clients give gifts to our field team, and so it was a reminder to them to thank your client for showing their appreciation.
Leading a new division: My biggest focus was making sure that they knew I was there to support them. I do think [working previously in the field] gives me a really good perspective. In my opinion, the home repair team is the most challenging division because every day we’re going to a different client. I have an appreciation for just the little nuances that they have to go through that affect the quality of a working environment, and I’m working to improve that as well.
