This is a Range Hood, Believe It or Not
It’s a pendant light! It’s a piece of art! It’s actually a range hood from Italian manufacturer Falmec.
Falmec has offered its “Dama” kitchen ventilation in Europe for several years, but just began offering it to the North American market in April. Dama is the first product line in Falmec’s Circle.Tech collection to come to the US, and reps for the company say more double-take-worthy range hood designs from the collection will hit the market later this year.
Circle.Tech is the manufacturer’s technology that filters air horizontally rather than vertically. Air flows into the circular range hood, where a centrifugal motor with reverse fans push the air through filters on the side (this is its horizontal movement) and then push upward and out. Air filters through a Falmec’s exclusive system, a Carbon.Zeo filter. The company says its filtering technology creates “exceptional” suction capacity, top filtering results, and extreme quietness.
This filter uses activated charcoal and zeolite, which the company claims to help reduce moisture, control odor, and offers a minimum of three years lifespan. Every 18 months, the homeowner must “regenerate” the filter by placing it in a 360-degree Fahrenheit oven for two hours.
Besides the filter itself and motor, the Dama hood offers LED ambient lighting, a washable metallic grease filter, and is remote controllable. The remaining Circle.Tech collection features Dama in more finishes than the currently available copper, five more artistic pendant light looks, and one hanging storage system with ventilation built in.
