Venditti has always been a risk-taker, so it wasn’t out of character for him to leave his dream job and join Noah Jackson and Augustine “AJ” Wadian on their start-up adventure. The home improvement company had been in business a year and already clocked $15 million in sales when Venditti was approached by the two co-founders to discuss a partnership. “I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I fell in love with the idea,” he says. “It was risky, but I’m so glad I did it.”
Biggest Challenge: Building a strong corporate core from the ground up—HR, finance, account management, call center—and establishing processes that support the company’s rapid growth. “You take for granted those back-office positions until you need to do them yourself,” he says. “I underestimated the challenge.”
Focus on Tech: Venditti set the company up with its own server. The advantage: “By having access to the underlying relational database, we can basically write code to answer any question we may have,” he says. “We can access the data and information about that data—the difference being, data is numbers while information is knowing what the numbers tell you.” That granularity helps him home in on marketing strategies and ad spends.
Outside of Work: Devotes time to both family and working out.
