VP of Operations, Murray Lampert Design Build Remodel, San Diego

Walker started working for the family business in 2005 while still in high school. After earning an architecture degree, she joined the design team and eventually transitioned into operations. Murray Lampert specializes in complex, custom building and remodeling projects, and Walker is the fourth generation to be part of this 50-year old, family-owned company. Over the years, the firm evolved from straight construction to a design-build powerhouse with 25 team members all driven by robust, tech-centered systems and processes.

Biggest Challenge: The largest professional challenge Walker faced over the past 18 months was also a joyful one: She prepared the company to operate seamlessly during her four-month maternity leave. This required extensive planning and trust in the team. “The results were incredible,” she says. “Not only did the team rise to the challenge, but they also uncovered new efficiencies and grew stronger as a result.”

Ten-Year Vision: Walker plans to purchase the company from her parents who both work in the business. As for them retiring, she says, “I think my dad might stay around. He’s the spirit, wisdom, and heart of Murray Lampert, and I want him to be here as long as he’s willing and is doing the things he enjoys.”
