Kitchen and Bath Trends
Kitchens and baths remain atop the list of rooms that homeowners nationwide most want to have remodeled. In some markets, owners are hiring remodeling professionals to make upgrades in these rooms about every 10 years. And it's not just a change in wall color, flooring, countertops or cabinetry — they're re-doing the entire room again.
The trend for kitchen upgrades in most markets shows that homeowners are having a love affair with a high-end look that essentially sets up the heart of their home as a status symbol.
From solid surface countertops to stainless steel appliances to open floor plans and views to the outdoors, this trend toward luxury upgrades is having a major impact on product lines and finishes that manufacturers are making available to meet consumer demand.
In the bath, this desire for luxury continues, with master bath additions and remodels including separate bathtubs and shower enclosures featuring multiple shower heads.
Kitchen and bath designs also are seeing a trend toward bolder colors, shapes and textures. There is also a consumer desire to bring in more light with additional windows, French doors, transoms and skylights.
