The kitchen’s back door in this early 1900s Craftsman-style house served as the main access to the yard, so a taller, thinner refrigerator model was selected to better utilize the space. The fir floors, in keeping with the owner’s requests, were refinished and blended with new hardwoods.
The reallocation of square footage from a large office to the bathroom transformed the awkward, tiny room into a safer, more functional space for visiting grandparents and the owners as they age.
