1. Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing
Vulkem 116 is a textured, single-component, moisture-curing, gun-grade polyurethane sealant. This general-purpose product is designed for exterior use on poured and precast concrete, masonry work, door and window perimeters, and similar types of construction joints. The sealant is durable, flexible, and offers excellent performance in dynamic joints, according to Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing. It’s rated for +/-25% movement capability, and also is suitable for certain water immersion applications.
2. DuPont
From DuPont’s Flashing Systems line, FlexWrap EZ is a tape designed to work well all over the house, but particularly well for smaller penetrations. It’s 2¾-inch wide and 15-feet long, and great for the smaller exterior openings: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and so on, according to a company rep. The tape shares several advantages with the brand’s existing wrap, including 270 days of UV exposure and the ability to withstand extreme temperatures. In terms of product per purchase, the manufacturer claims that a single roll is enough for an entire “average-sized” home.
3. LP SmartSide
LP SmartSide announced two new offerings: SmartSide Perfection Shingle features a cedar-like texture and the clean lines of shingles with a 5.5- to 6.5-inch reveal. It offers an attractive aesthetic for accents, gables, or siding walls and is pre-primed for exceptional paint adhesion. SmartSide Vertical Siding has the appealing look of board and batten with the added safeguard of the SmartGuard process, which protects against freeze-thaw cycles, fungal decay, and more.
4. DaVinci Roofscapes
DaVinci Roofscapes unveiled its Nature Crafted Collection. The three composite shake shingle colors include the realistic, nature-inspired hues of Aged Cedar, Mossy Cedar, and Black Oak. Each reflects different progressive aging processes found on real shake shingles, offering natural colors and long-term performance without the worry of failing roof materials. They won’t split, crack, curl, or fade, according to the company, and are made to resist fire and impact, high winds, mold, insects, and more.
5. Protecto Wrap
Protecto Wrap’s Roof Edge Seal is a double-sided, internally reinforced peel-and-stick membrane designed to bond the roof-covering edge to the roof. It is made to prevent shingles from being blown off during high winds and protects against the damaging effects of harsh weather, such as driving rain and strong winds. Typical applications include rake edges, ridge caps, eave edges, and skylights. Quick and easy to install, it can be applied in all climates.
6. Sunflare
Sunflare residential solar shingles are an option for homeowners wanting to reduce their environmental footprint and energy bill. The patent-pending roof shingles have snap-together electrical connectors, are easy to install, and offer 100% waterproofing. These shingles are CIGS solar cells encapsulated in durable, lightweight polymer sheets. Each cell has a bypass diode, meaning that when a cloud passes by or a shadow is cast, only the cell that’s shaded becomes inactive.
7. Hardy Frame
MiTek’s Hardy Frame brand released the CFS Moment Frame, a stackable system designed for lateral force resistance, and the CFS Picture Frame, for multi-story structures. The use of CFS in place of traditional structural steel lightens the product’s weight, making for easier shipping, handling, and installation. The panels are connected to beams by a two-bolt assembly, with no field welding required. The narrow panels-—pre-engineered for 12-, 15-, 18-, and 21-inch widths—feature a C-shape, allowing for recessed electrical fixtures
and the installation of wood backing or batt insulation. The CFS Picture Frame includes beams at both top and bottom, with the lower beam designed to sit directly on wood floor systems to distribute compression evenly across more wall length below windows, creating the option for larger yet still structurally sound openings.
8. Quikrete Companies
Quikrete Companies introduced Quikrete Advanced Polymer Sealant Adhesives, offering permanent repair and bonding solutions for builders and remodelers. The quick-working line includes Concrete Crack Sealant to seal/waterproof cracks; Construction Adhesive to bond concrete, masonry, brick, veneer stone, foamboard, wood, plastic, and drywall; Non-Sag Sealant for vertical cracks and expansion joints in concrete, masonry, stucco, and brick; Mortar Joint Sealant to seal/waterproof mortar joints; and Self-Leveling Sealant for horizontal cracks and expansion joints in concrete.
9. Versatex
The Versatex Canvas Series cellular PVC trim combines warm, woodgrain finishes with four moisture-resistant profiles: WP4, Stealth Beadboard, 4-inch Crown Molding, and Bed Mold. All profiles are available in Black Cherry, Macore, Walnut, Amber, and Weathered Grey finishes, and a color-matched touch-up kit is included with each order. For use on porch ceilings, accent walls, indoor applications, and more, the Canvas Series comes in a 16-foot length for the crown and bed mould profiles, and 18-foot for the stealth bead an WP4.

Ready to paint in one hour, it’s backed by a lifetime mold, mildew, and algae resistance guarantee. The firm also introduces Platinum Patch Advanced Exterior Filler to provide all-weather protection for exterior repairs. Both sealants feature Weather Max technology to prevent discoloration, crumbling, cracking, or other damage caused by harsh weather.
11. Ply Gem
In 2018, Ply Gem announced its release of the recently enhanced SolarDefense Reflective Technology. Available exclusively on select vinyl siding lines from Mastic by Ply Gem, SolarDefense provides superior protection from harmful UV rays while increasing curb appeal, according to the company. The technology uses a proprietary formula with three layers: The top resists color fading and oxidation; the middle is designed to aid in reflecting and scattering light rays to keep the siding cooler; and the core layer has been reformulated to withstand higher temperatures. Five new colors have been added to the SolarDefense portfolio, and the product is backed by the No Fade, No Distortion Promise and accompanying limited lifetime warranty.

James Hardie gives homeowners the ability to accentuate corners, columns, fascia, doors, windows, and more with the company’s HardieTrim boards. The trim is available as roughsawn or smooth 4/4 or 5/4 boards, and as smooth or Rustic Grain batten boards. Smooth profiles come with Hardie’s ColorPlus Technology finish, helping the product keep its vibrancy for years.
13. Huber Engineered Woods
ZIP System R-sheathing by Huber Engineered Woods reimagines traditional wall assemblies by streamlining exterior water, air, and thermal management, according to the company. Featuring built-in exterior insulation, integrated water-resistive barrier, continuous air barrier, and structural durability, ZIP System R-sheathing comes in four thicknesses and three lengths—8, 9, and 10 feet.

Meridian Brick introduced Authintic Brick, a thin brick for interior or exterior applications. Authintic Brick is 100% fired clay brick and, as the company says, it’s real Meridian Brick, but just the brick face. It comes off the wall 5⁄8-inch, offering a profile that’s 3 inches smaller and 70% lighter than traditional brick. Made from natural materials, it is free of volatile compounds and available in numerous in-stock colors, with 200-plus made-to options also possible.
