On working with clients: It’s important to me to understand how clients move in their space. If they offer, I say, “Yes, I do want that glass of water.” That way, I can observe. Do they run into the garbage can? How is the layout broken? Then we focus on the floorplan and its flow and function. The first meetings are about asking, “What do you like and dislike about your current space?”

Once refined, I layer on the personalized details. This attention to detail matters, it tells the client I designed this for them.
