PLATINUM Bathroom over $30,000
David Wilkes Builders, Austin, Texas
David Wilkes Builders converted an outdated master bathroom suite into a rich spa-like retreat. In so doing, they overcame numerous design obstacles and mandates. Artisan privacy window glass selected by the client weighed over 200 pounds each making installation very difficult. The deeply colored glass wall tile was thin and brittle, requiring extra time and effort from the installer.
in addition, a specially made tub faucet was created, chrome plated, and housed in a teak tower to perfect the designer’s ultra sleek intent for the space. Other details include: a wall of Walnut behind the vanities and mirrors, teak cabinets, flush-mount lighting fixtures in the ceiling, and a towel warmer, along with a number of other detailed touches. The Professional Remodeler Design Award judges were impressed with the beautiful finishes selected and the amount of planning and work required to assemble those details in a minimalist package.
GOLD Bathroom over $30,000
Beautiful Remodel, Gilbert, Ariz.
Beautiful Remodel designed a bathroom that included a S-shaped shower with mosaic wall to help break up straight lines in the room, while leaving room for a smaller, acrylic oval tub. Two upgrades were added to the project: the low-voltage lighting at the mosaic walls, and the hand-scribing of the wood floor to the tile. Beautiful Remodel added these final upgrades to complete the overall design and feel of the bathroom at no cost to the client.
The judges cited the dramatic, innovative design, and creative use of lighting as key factors in awarding the project a Gold Award.

GOLD Bathroom over $30,000
Timeline Renovations, Maspeth, N.Y.
After completing most of their renovations prior to moving in, the owners of this Chelsea apartment turned their attention to the master bathroom. The cramped bathroom did not fit the needs of the owners, who preferred a larger, modern space. Because the master bedroom is very large, Timeline Renovations suggested using some of the square footage to add to the bathroom.
Additional plumbing was installed to accommodate a double vanity with mirrors. A shower enclosure complete with two shower areas and a slipper tub on a raised platform were also included. Niches were carved into both shower areas and alongside the tub to create additional space.
Judges cited the combination of fixtures, textures, and colors as reasons for the Gold Award.
