Building Science: Building a Foam-Free Passive House

A Colorado-based designer and builder wanted to build his home with passive house standards, but was concerned about using foamed plastic insulation.

According to TreeHugger, the builder looked back in time to find an alternative way of insulating his home tightly: ventilated crawl space in the walls and floor, and wrap the whole house in a thick blanket of Roxul rock wool and cellulose insulation.
