Principal Designer, Owner
Lauren Levant Interior, Pittsburgh
Age 31
Lauren became profitable just a few months after launching her interior design business in 2014. She attributes part of her success to networking and part to the media, including coverage from HGTV, The Washington Post, and Home & Design Magazine. But it’s her collaborative leadership style that provided a crucial key to Lauren’s professional growth. Interior designers often clash with contractors, making what could be a productive partnership into a turf war. Not so with Lauren, who has deep respect for the construction process and learned an enormous amount from watching expert craftsmen. She highly recommends hands-on education as the best way for design professionals to understand materials and construction.
To broaden the reach of her work, Lauren uses cloud-based project management software and a virtual meeting room, enabling her to design for clients anywhere in the world. This has increased her efficiency with homeowners who can now approve ideas and materials remotely.
Lauren also enjoys giving back to the next generation of emerging designers. She recently partnered with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh on a multimedia piece for its interior design students.
