In order to create a space large enough to grow into and accessible to a wheelchair-bound client, the team converted an existing two-car garage into a master suite. The driveway and pitch of the new 2.5-car-garage floor eliminated the need for ramps.
The chimney was found to be 2 feet out of plumb, but the fireplace face could not be widened without limiting accessibility. Instead, space was added to one side, creating a visually pleasing, asymmetrical yet purposeful balance.
Wood panels (bottom) were removed from the original home and reapplied throughout the remodeled space.
