With multiple siding options, selecting the best for our client entails a complete benefit/cost analysis. Personally, we are fans of engineered wood, which is a popular siding material today. We’ve found that many of our fellow pros aren’t fully aware of the attributes and benefits of each.

1. A More Durable Siding Option

Many pros ask what the difference is between OSB and engineered wood siding products. Engineered wood siding is more dense and compressed and what we use is treated to protect from fungal decay and termites. The formula of resins, zinc borate, and waxes gives strands a coating that resists water.

2. Easy to Install and Handle

Engineered wood siding does not break easily, making the installation easy, quick, and cost-effective by reducing the potential for waste. It’s lightweight and can be installed using standard woodworking tools.

3. Top Choice for Value

As many pros know, value is key for clients wanting a longer-lasting siding. Due to its durability, the engineered wood siding option we use comes in 16 ft length panels. For us, this gives our clients the best bang for their buck when building or re-siding a residential home. When installed properly, we found that there are little to no repairs needed over time, costing clients less long-term.

4. Versatile Aesthetics

We love the sleek yet traditional wood look of engineered wood siding, as it can elevate any kind of aesthetic by giving it a more premium look. Our siding choice is available in smooth panels as well as in cedar texture panels.

5. A More Sustainable Solution

Engineered wood siding is one of the most sustainable siding options on the market. The vast majority of the wood in the product we use is sourced from aspen trees which naturally regenerate. As professionals, we can feel confident that our siding’s impact on the planet is carbon-negative, as it stores more carbon than is released from the time it is manufactured.
