Leading home improvement company Great Day Improvements has acquired ELM Home & Building Solutions’ brands, LeadGuard and Englert, from parent company Audax.

With this acquisition, Great Day Improvements now reaches more than 280 locations in 120 markets. Great Day owns 12 home improvement brands in its portfolio, ranging from the newly added gutter filter system LeafGuard and metal roofing company Englert to bathroom remodeler The Bath Authority and window installer Stanek Windows.

The two new acquisitions provide new verticals for Great Day. According to the official release, Englert’s manufacturing capabilities on the East Coast and LeafGuard’s product expertise will help diversify Great Day’s product offerings on a national scale.

“This acquisition shows we are well positioned for growth and a successful future despite any ups and downs in the home remodeling industry,” said Ed Weinfurtner, executive chairman of Great Day Improvements, in the official release. “As we create a strategically resilient business, we are excited to integrate the Leafguard and Englert brands into our operations, not only enhancing our market reach and product variety but also reinforcing our unique business model that provides a local feel with national strength.”

Audax and ELM Home & Building Solutions

Audax acquired LeafGuard and Englert in March 2019. The private equity firm also owns Renovo Home Partners, which comprises Dreamsyle Remodeling, Remodel USA, and Alure Home Improvements.

With Audax, the brands benefited from 20 add-on acquisitions, added new greenfield locations in key markets, and expanded Englert’s distribution and product portfolio.

“Audax Private Equity has been a valuable partner and brought considerable resources to bear over the life of their investment,” noted Chuck Fallon, CEO of ELM. “Audax helped our team build a foundation to create a more resilient business and position ELM for accelerated growth. Our team is looking forward to building on that momentum in partnership with Great Day Improvements.”

Recent Private Equity Moves

This marks the sixth private equity move in home improvement since May, with the most recent being Titan Holdings selling its Renuity portfolio of brands (FHIA Remodeling, Pacific Bath, ClosetAmerica, HomeSmart, Statewide Home Improvement, Mad City Windows & Baths, MaxHome, FHIA Remodeling, Paradise Home Improvement, and RiteHome.) to Greenbriar on June 3.
