Hyattsville, Md.-based Symbi Homes renovated a 19th-century Victorian home and built a new attached accessory dwelling unit to the rear of the home. The ADU featured Universal Design principles and aging-in-place elements to house the original home's aging tenants. Such features included a curbless shower, abundance of natural light, wide doorways and hallways, and healthy indoor air quality.

Synergy Design & Construction used their remodeled home as a showroom of sorts for clients, and debuted the finish product at the community's parade of homes. The remodel featured high-end JennAir appliances, walnut cabinetry, a hidden meditation room, floating staircase, a two-concept kitchen, and an electric fireplace recessed into the kitchen island.

Dreamstyle Remodeling modernized an iconic 50s Mossman-Gladden house for the 2020 Model ReModel. The homeowner also grew up in the house, inheriting the property when her father passed. Featuring new finishes, fixtures, shiplap details, and updated window installations, the remodel featured a combination of small projects, perfect for Dreamstyle.

This East Coast remodel by Boardwalk Builders featured a compact home located three blocks from the water in Rehoboth Beach, Del. It received a full interior-exterior remodel, plus a rear addition that nearly doubled its size. Although the project went smoothly overall, the job was not without challenges.

The goal: Transform the home, which has been in the client’s family for generations, into a modern, maintenance-free dwelling for the homeowner, who is nearing retirement.

The 2016 Model ReModel home in Batavia, Ill., features design excellence, innovative materials, and construction best practices. The 1940s home was located in a historical part of Batavia, a Chicago suburb 40 miles west of the city. Remodeler Mike Spillane let his imagination take hold. He saw past the tiny, dark rooms and outdated mechanicals and purchased the property, confident it could be transformed into a modern, efficient home that still maintains much of its original character.

Located in the high-end, Preston Hollow section of Dallas, the 2016 Model ReModel by Alair Homes Hatfield was dark, small, and hopelessly dated when a young family purchased it. Their grand plan called for tearing the house down to the studs, rethinking virtually every room, and doubling the square footage with two large additions.
