Sharp Home Electronics is introducing a built-in oven that promises to revolutionize home cooking by reducing cooking times by one-third.

The speed is achievable through Sharp’s industry-first cooking technology: a Gold Carbon Heater. The company says the Gold Carbon Heater is engineered to provide a charcoal grill flavor, bringing warm-weather tastes into the home throughout the year.

The oven also uses a proprietary quad heating technology in addition to convection circulation, an inverter control microwave, and smart cooking controls.

Of course, no one can escape the artificial intelligence creep—so the company plans to add multiple AI functions. Those include tech that will analyze what’s cooking and kick the appropriate cooking methods into gear. Sharp has not yet announced when its built-in high-speed ovens will roll out onto the market.

This smart function is already in use on Samsung’s Bespoke line, and it’s a growing trend spotted at the 2024 Consumer Electronic Show where Sharp debuted the high-speed oven.

A few other CES debuts tried their hand at shortening cooking times, including the tabletop Sevvy smart oven that uses electric currents to cook food, and Revolution Cooking’s Macrowave. The creatively named Macrowave uses a patented infrared heating technology that enables it to function as an air fryer, oven, and microwave.
