1. bioMASON

North Carolina startup bioMASON uses a bacterium to grow masonry products for installation in commercial and residential structures. BioMASON’s bioLITH product, which includes four tile sizes in two colors, is a product remodelers could buy today and install tomorrow. The material’s created by combining microorganisms with waste aggregate, which is pressed and cured into tiles.

2. Made by Ann Sacks

Unveiled in 2021, the Apex Stoneware Collection from Made By Ann Sacks features five geometric patterns in 14 gloss and matte shades. The raised patterns create a three-dimensional effect that’s heightened through the interactive glazes. The five patterns are Rainier Triangle (shown), Paulina Diamond, Shasta Double Hexagon, Sierra Hexagon and Trillium Square. With multiple color choices, it’s easy to find the perfect hue for any indoor room.

3. Caesarstone

With many designers keying into a trend for dark interiors, including kitchens and bathrooms, Caesarstone designers looked for inspiration in many places, including desert landscapes. Noting that such spaces sported natural stones that are scorched by day and frozen by night, producing some eye-catching patinas and textures, the designers came up with the Dark Series. It includes, Piatto Black, Oxidian, Black Tempal and Empira Black (shown), which is an interpretation of dark marble.

4. Emser Tile

Emser Tile’s 2021 Trends Guide is a 72-page guide that features the company’s newest design collections, such as Passion glazed porcelain wall tiles to complement any decor. The 3x8” tiles come in six hues, including Azul (shown), and offer benefits for residential and commercial settings, including durability, hypoallergenic characteristics, resistance to moisture and bacteria, and easy maintenance and cleaning. Company offerings include an extensive line of ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone products. 

5. Walker Zanger

The Walker Zanger Studio Collection was inspired by the need for affordable luxury and fine design. It features a line of ceramic, glass, natural stone and porcelain tile to appeal to a new wave of homeowners and designers seeking the same authenticity and quality in all of the company’s collections, yet will be readily available to consumers with shortened lead times. 6. Cosentino

Dekton Slim is the ultra-thin surface from Cosentino. At 4mm in large format, it offers unlimited design options, per the company. This durable, scratch-resistant surface covering can be used on walls and bathroom and kitchen furniture such as tables, cabinet doors, drawers. Slabs up to 126-by-56” can be cut to size. Available colors: Liquid Sky (shown), Liquid Shell, Liquid Embers and Helena Stonika xgloss collection.

7. Kirei

Kirei has launched New Horizons, a customizable collection of five EchoPanel acoustic products, in the North American market. Providing noise-management solutions that support healthier indoor environments, the collection includes EchoTile Ascent, EchoEdge, EchoLine45, EchoLine Subway and EchoEmboss. Homeowners seeking quieter office spaces and overall less noisy abodes may well find EchoTile Ascent (shown) to be the solution. The EchoPanel line includes tiles, wall panels, ceiling systems and partitions. 

8. Formica

The 2021 Formica Specialty Collection offers patterns and surfaces for an alternative to exotic woods. Sixteen new offerings range from neutral colors to Scandinavian-inspired light tones. Surfacing choices include casual, unique patterns as well as familiar woodgrains in oak, elm, cherry, ash and walnut shades.

9. Crossville Inc.

Crossville Inc. has launched its In-Side porcelain tile panel collection, which mimics the look of Pietra Del Cordoso, a deep-blue gray sandstone. The collection is available in two color variations, each coming in matte or flamed finishes: Pietra-Di-Cardoso Grigio, a luxe gray tone (shown), and Pietra-Di-Cardoso Nero, a nuanced black. Panels are in 1mx3m sheets with Laminam 5.6mm thickness, suitable for interior wall and floor applications in residential and commercial settings.

10. Fibo

New designs on wall panels and kitchen board backsplashes now are available from Fibo. The offerings include antibacterial laminate and Subway Tile design for the U.S. market. The design 4091M70 White Slate (shown) and 4091KM70 (kitchen board/backsplash) are a popular design for use in bathrooms and kitchens requiring a high-quality, durable wall solution, according to the company. The panels are available in the following sizes: 24x24” and 24x96”. 

11. Casalgrande Padana

Italian surfaces manufacturer Casalgrande Padana says that its Bios Self-Cleaning cladding breaks up the organic substances and pollutants stuck to the materials surface when triggered by light. Thanks to titanium dioxide (TiO2), water easily rolls off the surface, further removing loose particulates. Casalgrande Padana’s Bios Antibacterial tiles and cladding have antibacterial qualities as well as TiO2 naturally eliminates four of the most common strains of harmful bacteria.
