Estimating: Tips to Help Clients Get Better Insurance Settlements

Remodeling business coach Mark Paskell shares what he learned from his  insurance claim workshop audience.

“Contractors [are reporting] insurance claims as low as 1/3 of actual damage,” Paskell writes. “I recommend that you tell all of your customers and friends not to  accept the first insurance claim offer!”

Instead, contractors are encouraged to reach out to customers and offer to carefully review the insurance claim offer. Paskell includes a sample bill for mitigation work that contractors should prepare, which will be paid in full by the insurance company.
