According to the Hearth Products Association, the number of hearth products available for outdoor entertaining has increased dramatically in the past four years. Manufacturers’ offerings range from portable metal campfires and fireplaces to fanciful, handcrafted chimeneas to permanent masonry hearths.
The HPA awarded its first Vesta Awards honoring innovations in design and technology among industry manufacturers at the organization’s Expo 2001 in Salt Lake City. Winners were Twilight, an indoor/outdoor fireplace from Heat-N-Glo; a pelletburning stove that generates its own electricity from Thelin Co.; and the Altima brick oven grill from Sure Heat Manufacturing.
