Target’s data breach was confirmed within three weeks, with Home Depot, it was four months.
Media Bistro cites a New York Times article that says “thousands of fresh credit and debit card numbers have surfaced on so-called carding sites,” where information on stolen credit card data is sold, and so far all the information gathered points back to Home Depot. Moreover, the breach could affect most of the retailer’s 2,200 stores, which is about 400 more than the Target breach.
