The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Assocation (CEDIA) announced last week that they formed the Remodeling and Home Technologies Council. The new council’s mission is “to advance home technology awareness within the remodeling industry and to expand business opportunities via partnership between CEDIA and NARI members,” according to a press release on NARI’s website.

Current trends show that home electronics are more likely to be installed during a home remodel than during new home constructions, said the release. Because of this, the two industries are closely linked.

“We view the new council as increasing business opportunities and relationships for both NARI and CEDIA members,” said Mary Busey Harris, executive vice president of NARI and staff liaison to the new council, in the release. “Project collaboration between professionals can yield better results.”

The council plans to start grassroots movements to promote the two associations locally, including holding cross-industry educational events at association meetings and starting cross-industry awards and scholarship programs. It will also establish best practices for NARI and CEDIA members working to together.
